On Jan 26th we were called out to an accident ... a car "over the side" in the surf just south of Mugu Rock. Above is the sight of the accident (picture taken in the next morning).
A woman was driving northbound on Pacific Coast Highway and ended up in the ocean. When we arrived at the scene we did not know how many victims were involved. There were many rescue crews on scene. Two rescue swimmers from the water rescue team made entry in the surf to see if any people were ejected into the water. No one was found in the water. One woman driver, still in the car, was extricted and sent by ambulance to the local hospital. We later heard that she did not survive. Here are pictures of her car as the tow truck pulled it up from the crashing surf.
